Inter-American Foundation

The Inter-American Foundation (IAF) has hired the Centre for Social Policy of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to carry out the evaluation of several development projects in Latin America, entirely or partially funded by the IAF. This website provides information to evaluators both on completed evaluations, but more importantly, it provides relevant data for current evaluations. All projects are organized according to standardized IAF codes, e.g. VZ-182, to facilitate identification. The content of this website will be updated as new data and information are generated.

Completed Evaluations

By mid-2005, the Centre for Social Policy concluded the impact evaluation of twelve projects funded by the IAF. In this website, you will find the evaluation final reports, assessing the achievement of project goals and their impact on their beneficiaries, as well as the lessons learned by the grantee organizations during the implementation and completion of the projects.

Current Evaluations

At this moment, various evaluators are carrying out the assessment of twelve projects spread out around Latin America, also financed by the IAF. Project goals range from an increase in the income of small-scale producers in Tlaxcala in Mexico, to help for low-income, rural Nicaraguans affected by Hurricane Mitch to recover productive capacity, and prevent future environmental disasters.

These ex-post evaluations will assess the impacts of the projects on the lives of their beneficiaries, through the use of qualitative and quantitative methods of research. Evaluation findings will help the IAF consolidate and disseminate its knowledge on the strengths and weaknesses of the strategies implemented.
