Agricultural-Based
Local Development in El Salvador The very nature of the
grantee´s activities, CODECOSTA, which “has operated as multi-purpose
development agency acting in close collaboration with local government in
different areas of interest”, set the tone for this wide-scope project
of local development. Within this general
proposal, however, two main strands of work could be identified, as
follows: capacity building, which covered a wide array of topics, such as
community organization techniques, co-operativism, environmental awareness,
administrative skills, agricultural capacity building and technical
assistance; and, micro-credit for small-scale farmers.
